Wedding Favor Ideas - Finding The One You Love by Peter Crump
Wedding favor ideas can be as elusive as the perfect man - you can spend forever looking for the right one amongst a whole range that just don't seem quite right! Traditional wedding favor ideas might seem a little too predictable, or just not quite what you had imagined. So how can you think up wedding favor ideas that are just right for you?
First of all, don't write off all traditional wedding favor ideas too quickly - they have earned their traditional wedding favors ideas status by proving ever popular. Perhaps the perfect wedding favor idea for you and your spouse might be a traditional one, but with a personal twist of your own.
Instead of the traditional candle wedding favor idea, you might choose a novelty shaped candle that represents something personal to you. Gardeners might enjoy the wedding favor idea of a candle flower in a pot, while animal lovers might like a dog or cat shaped candle.
You will want your favors to be as unique and special as your wedding day, and what better way to find wedding favor ideas than the ones you create yourself. Make your own wedding favors ideas can be difficult to come up with, but the trick is to create something that is representative of you.
Think of make your own wedding favors ideas that speak to your own talents, or those of your spouse - card makers might create a commemorate booklet, while musicians could produce a CD, or even write a special song. The best make your own wedding favors ideas are those that will remind your guests of something special about you and your new spouse.
If all else fails, a good way to come up with new wedding favors ideas is to look at what others have used in the past - tried and tested wedding favor ideas are often the best! Think about weddings you have attended in the past - what did you, as a guest, love and hate about particular wedding favor ideas?
Just remember to find the wedding favor ideas that are meaningful to you. Because your guests will love your favor, so long as it reminds them of you and your special day.
Looking for wedding favor ideas isn't easy, but worth it to get it right.

Make Your Wedding Reception's Talks and Toasts Sparkle by Mike Moore
You might be asking yourself what motivated a professional speaker to write an article on speaking tips and toasts at wedding receptions. I guess it is the result of attending receptions that I felt could use a bit of help in this department.
Wedding receptions are a wonderful part of our lives. They allow us to come together to meet friends and celebrate new beginnings with their families. When I was younger it was the weddings of close friends that we attended. Now we are going to the weddings of our friends' children. The great circle of life continues. For the most part they are enjoyable experiences, but the receptions are frequently experiences of frustration and tension.
I am sure that you, like me, have sat through receptions that made you say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! The speeches went on forever and were often painful to listen to.
I, like you, have had to sit and listen to " Uncle Joe" who was half in the bag stand at the microphone going on and on and on for what seemed like an eternity. I have heard jock friends of the groom speak for 10 minutes using sports metaphors about their relationship to the groom. Usually their speech included how much they could drink and how many times they watched one another throw up after a night of partying.
Other observations included listening to the emcee of the evening deliver a stand-up comedy routine; a brother of the bride insult his Mother in front of the entire reception all the time thinking it was all in fun. The Mother didn't think so.
Things to do to make sure your reception is both fun and a bit classy
* The bride and groom must put more thought into who they ask to be the Master of Ceremonies at their reception and you they want to speak.
* Clearly outline the duties of your M.C. so they have parameters within which to work.
* Establish the order you want the speakers to appear and the length of time you want each to speak. Go over this with them prior to the reception.
* How many toasts do you want to have and who do you want proposing them. Select someone who is, at least, semi articulate.
* Are you going to invite other members of the reception to come up and say a few words? I suggest you don't do this. This can stretch out an already long dinner and it is also risky. The people attending have had drinks before the meal and wine with the meal and for some this turns them into a Robin Williams in their own mind. Remember: The mind can absorb what the rump can endure" Usually our rumps have endured a lot by the time the speeches and toasts are over.
Just paying attention to these few details can do a great deal to ensure that your reception speeches and toasts go over well.

Considering your Budget for a Bridesmaid Gift by Stephanie Tuia
They have been there for you through all of the planning and stressing. They gave you a bridal shower, threw you a bachelorette party, were a shoulder to cry on at times, but also a friend to laugh with; they are your dearest confidants.
These friends have been chosen as your bridesmaids, special women in your life who have been there for you. You honor them by letting them play an integral role on your wedding day. They will be there to support you, adore you, and be beautiful figures to garnish your wedding party.
And for these reasons, these special women are deserving of a fitting bridesmaid gift, specialized to their liking, and personalized from your heart. Among the many purchases the bride must spend for her wedding, she doesn't have to go for broke to buy her bridesmaids a personalized gift. Affordable or not, the giving of a bridesmaid gift shows your appreciation and consideration to these women. Here are some ideas for a bridesmaid gift to accommodate your budget.
Photo albums
Photo albums are great gifts to the bridesmaid who frequently takes pictures and these visual memories are worthy of being displayed. How many times have you developed your pictures, only to maintain the majority of exposures hidden away in storage? The five photos you decide to frame are spotlighted in your home while the rest of your pictures are collecting dust. Photo albums are the solution to preserving and acknowledging these visual memories.
Your budget can be flexible with photo albums, available at most stores and at various prices. Considering her favorite colors or designs will get you in the right mode to pick a fitting photo album for your bridesmaid.
Perfume
Fruit-scented body splash or celebrity-endorsed perfumes are just a few degrees of body scents that you can give your bridesmaid. With the economical choice of body splash, you can throw in some other favors like lotions, soaps or scrubs, turning it into a gift basket. If you'd rather resort to an exclusive choice of perfume, department stores offer a wide selection of perfumes to choose from.
Choosing perfume for your bridesmaid is a luxury that she might not indulge on unless it was a gift. The perfume you give your bridesmaid will be a refreshing scent as she uses it to wear on all occasions.
Jewelry
If your want to go a little further into your spending budget, your bridesmaid will always look splendid in jewelry. A way to honor her is by looking into a charm as a bridesmaid gift. A small charm will commemorate her role in her friend's wedding. If your bridesmaid has a charm bracelet, this special friend charm will be a great addition to her many charms.
If she doesn't have a bracelet, giving her a charm bracelet will encourage her to start collecting charms of some of her favorite treasures, starting with the friendship charm from you.
Years after your wedding, your bridesmaid will remember the sentimental gift you've given her because it was thoughtful, not because it was expensive or low-priced. The budget you have set for a bridesmaid gift should be carefully considered, but just remember the wise belief that it is the thought that counts.

Wedding Planning: Top Tips on Enhancing Your Wedding Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast by Jennie Evans
A Wedding To Remember by Meredith Merchán
September was approaching fast and it was my job as the matron-of-honor to put together a great bridal shower for my best friend. My husband and I decided to do a couple's shower for our friends and theme it after the Survivor television show. The bridal shower took on a whole new meaning when we were finished with it. The decorations for the couple's bridal shower were hung with multi-cultured themes. We had flags from all over the world, and hats and walking sticks from Down-under, since they both were avid travelers and outdoorsmen.
The food was also patterned after the world theme and we made sure to include dishes from various countries. We mostly chose "finger-foods", and that helped to get everyone in the spirit of the games. Many dishes from India and the Middle East incorporate using your fingers anyway so that was a big hit. Sauces and dips also seem to be a popular choice especially in a "care-free" setting. Add some nice garlic pita chips, shish-ka-bobs, and some exotic fruity drinks and you have a winning couple's bridal shower.
Outside we placed tiki lamps for that tribal effect and hung various masks and artifacts from places we had visited as well. If you haven't traveled much yourself there are various items at home decorating stores, gardening centers, and nature or earth themed retail stores for an affordable price.
The shower games we chose you can imagine. We had a variety of dares and factual games that centered on relationship building. We even threw in truth or fantasy questions about the young couple for others to get to know them better. The shower games were a success with this fun group and even seemed to break the ice.
After the shower games the ladies got together and decided on where to meet the following morning for a day out at bridal shops. They put in their advice to the bride where to find the best bridal shop, and what it had to offer that the others didn't. You can picture the scene. Several excited women talking faster than the men's heads could spin and all convincing about their experience.
The preview gowns, wedding party dresses, accessories, special event wear, all the way down to the flower girl dresses can be found out there at discount bridal shops. Some of them you can even walk in and ask for a pair of free bridal gloves! Now that could be a real savings in your budget.
Over all, the bridal shower, shower games, and bridal shopping went off without any major hitches and left a lasting memory for years to come. So the next time you plan a bridal shower try to add a theme and spice up the traditional party into affair to remember.

Top Tips on Enhancing Your Wedding Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast by Jennie Evans
Wedding Reception Music
Setting the mood for a celebration
The drinks reception after the wedding ceremony is a time for congratulations all round. Musicians striking up as the newly married couple and their guests arrive sets a buoyant mood from the outset.
Any style which puts a spring in the step is appropriate. Light classical or Swing Jazz gives a "Ritzy" up-market ambience to the event. If you're after a more friendly family feel, you might consider traditional tunes ... Irish style.
Live Music in the background
Music for the wedding reception and breakfast is strictly a background affair. The main focus of attention, of course, is the bride and groom. The wedding music enhances the aura of happiness around the couple. It engenders a sense of relaxed togetherness and encourages chatter, rather than detracting from it.
The number of guests usually dictates the number of musicians needed to create the desired effect. With careful amplification, a duo will provide sufficient atmosphere for a party of up to 70 people. If your celebration is larger, you would be wise to consider a trio or quartet.
Later, your musicians can serenade the guests at the beginning of the wedding breakfast. The added quality and atmosphere that only live music can bring to an event is just the thing to turn your wedding breakfast into a truly memorable occasion.
Making the most of your wedding musicians
Make the best use of the musical skill at your disposal. When you book musicians to perform for you, you can expect them to perform (typically) three sets of live music, each approximately 45 mins long. Use the first set to make your wedding ceremony really special. Any band or ensemble will be happy to discuss in advance your options for each part of the service in order to help you make the best choices. Use the second set to create an up-beat atmosphere at the drinks reception. The final set will kick the wedding breakfast off to a really special start.
With careful use of your investment in live music you can add that extra-special "je ne sais quoi" that transforms an event into a truly memorable celebration ... without breaking the bank!

HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR BRIDES AND GROOMS by Nily Glaser
IDEAS for HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR BRIDES AND GROOMS
Copyrights (c) 2005 All Rights Reserved Nily Glaser
This is an article in 4 parts.
1. HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR BRIDES AND GROOMS
2. PLANNING A WEDDING - What brides and grooms need.
3. GIFTS OF DOING - How to contribute to the wedding.
4. BRIDAL ACCESSORIES and WEDDING ITEMS brides and grooms need.
Many visitors sent A-wedding Day inquiries about holiday and birthday gifts that brides and grooms will appreciate. The typical inquiry is as follows. "I - we have a bride, a groom or an engaged couple on my - our holiday gift list. Do you have any recommendations?" or "What will make a nice Christmas - Chanukah gift for a bride, a groom or an engaged couple?"
The general tendency is to gift the bride, groom or engaged couple with items for their home. These gifts are nice but gifts that will help them realize their Dream Wedding will be much more appreciated. Planning a wedding, even a modest wedding on a tight budget, costs thousands of dollars. According to a study conducted back in 2002 by The International Institute of Weddings, the average cost of a wedding in the US was $21,300. It is much higher today. So any contribution, not necessarily in funds, will help the bride and groom have their Dream Wedding. Gifts for the wedding do not have to be expensive. Yet, each item and wedding accessory will become a cherished keepsake. Your gifts will be remembered. Today, theme weddings are very popular and wedding colors are important. So, before you proceed, you may wish to find out if the bride and groom plan a theme wedding. If so, what their theme is. Also, find out about their choice of wedding colors. Having and adhering to this information, will assure that your gift will coordinate well with the wedding. Let's see what a wedding entails, what brides and grooms need or want and how you can contribute.
PLANNING A WEDDING
When planning their Dream Wedding, a bride and groom put into motion the services of wedding professionals and many wedding supplies and accessories that will put the final touches to the celebration. The fees for services and the costs of the bridal supplies and accessories accumulate rapidly. Though not all couples will utilize all, here is a list of services in alphabetical order:
Locations and Services * Accommodations - Bride and Groom, Family, Wedding Guests * addressing and calligraphy * banquet facility * beauty - spa, make-up, nails and hair * catering- * Florists, Floral Designers, Decorators * honeymoon * musicians - live or DJ * officiant - clergy * jewelers * printers - invitations and other wedding stationery if they do not print their own. * transportation - * Wedding Attire - Gowns, Tuxedos Wedding Cakes * wedding gift for - best man, maid of honor, bridesmaids, * ushers, kids, others * wedding gifts for - family, wedding party, other * Wedding Photographers - videographers * Wedding Planners * wedding ceremony site and wedding reception site * They may even have other important considerations. Now that you have some idea of what creating a Dream Wedding Entails. Let us examine how you can give the bride and groom a gift that will be most welcome and very highly appreciated.
Choose the gift(s) that are within your budget and if you Can, add participation as follows.
GIFTS OF DOING
If you have a special talent offer it to the couple. Create 2 emergency kits for the wedding. Create 2 pretty baskets, bowls or other containers and place the following items in each: Deodorant, Non-allergic makeup remover, Makeup, chapped lip protectors, Hair products: gel, hair spray, combs, Bobby pins, Hand lotion, Nail polish, Nail file, Breath mints, Sewing kit, Safety pins, head ache relief tablets, indigestion relief tablets, Ammonia inhalant (in case of fainting), Band Aids, Bandages, Antacid tablets, Facial tissues, Moist towelettes and Pantyhose. On the wedding day, the bride or a bridesmaid will place one kit in the Ladies' rest room and the groom or an usher will place the other in the Men's.
If you sew, you may help with the wedding attire. You may not be able to sew a wedding gown. But if you can alter it, the bride can buy a wedding gown off the rack and save a LOT of money. Add a note to a jewelry item(s) or a tiara and you have given a wonderful gift.
If you bake and decorate, you may offer to bake the wedding cake, the groom cake or both. If you cannot decorate a cake, consult with the caterer to see if you may offer baked desserts for the wedding reception. This will reduce some of the catering costs. Add a note to a nice tray or cake stand and you'll make one couple very happy. For recipes go to: http://www.a-weddingday.com/recipes/recipes.html
If the wedding will be self-catered, you may offer to contribute some of your specialty dishes. Add your offer to some serving pieces and you give the bride and groom real help. For recipes go to: Crafts
The above are some ideas. If you come up with others, please share them with us. We'll appreciate it and so will our visitors.
BRIDAL ACCESSORIES and WEDDING ITEMS When purchasing a wedding gift choose a gift that will become a treasured keepsake. Personalized gifts, wedding ceremony and reception accessories, and unique items make the best gifts. If you are not a close friend or a family member, you should consult with the parents (moms) of the bride and groom so as to avoid duplication of gifts. If you are a co-worker or a member of the same organization as the bride and - or groom, you may wish to get together with the other co-workers or members and with the combined funds, purchase a more expensive group gift such as a complete collection of matching accessories, silver serving pieces, Personalized unity candles and holders etc...
Following is a list of Bridal Accessories and Gifts for the Wedding
Before you look for gifts for brides and grooms, find out if they have a wedding theme and possibly their wedding colors. This way you'll be sure your gift will please the couple. Most items are available at A-wedding Day where you can see actual pictures of the items you may consider.
Note that this is a very comprehensive list. Some items are needed For the ceremony and reception, while the rest are optional.

Finding the Perfect Bridesmaid Gift by Kaitlin Carruth
The bridesmaid gift is essential to the planning of a wedding. While many may believe that a wedding is all about the bride, it is still important to show appreciation to your bridesmaids. These are your right-hand ladies who have always been there for you. They have taken the time to be there and help you out on your special day and what better way of showing appreciation than getting them a bridesmaid gift. But how do you avoid getting a generic bridesmaid gift or something that they will just throw away when they get home? Here are some bridesmaid gift guidelines that should help you in your pursuit of finding the perfect bridesmaid gift.
1) Make it Personal. The most important thing to remember when getting a bridesmaid gift is to get something personal. It is easy to give gift certificates or cards as gifts, but it is much more meaningful if you pick something out that you know
they will enjoy. If you know their favorite actor/actress has a new movie out on DVD, get it for them along with some popcorn and candy. If they like to go to concerts, give them concert tickets to their favorite group. A personal and thoughtful gift demonstrates to your bridesmaid that you pay attention to them and their interests.
2) Keep it Simple. You do not have to worry about getting something incredibly elaborate for your bridesmaid gift. This is not your time to demonstrate that you are a natural Martha Stewart. Remember, this is your family and friends and they already know that this is not the case. Jewelry makes a great bridesmaid gift. Everyone likesto get jewelry and it does not require you to cross-stitch pillows for each bridesmaid. Anklets or earrings make simple but elegant gifts. There is no need to try to be crafty with your bridesmaid gift.
3) It does not have
to be Expensive. Weddings are already incredibly expensive; do not let the bridesmaid gift add to your debt. An expensive bridesmaid gift is not expected from your bridesmaids. You do not need to prove your love to your bridesmaids by getting them something that cost you a lot of money, you just need to get them something that shows that you care. One idea is to get your bridesmaids some stationary. Stationary is not expensive, but is something that is useful and everyone can use. Another idea is getting each bridesmaid their favorite flowers. This shows you care without emptying your wallet. If you are really tight on cash, you can always right them a personal thank you note. Just remember that you do not need to buy the love of your bridesmaids with your gift.
4) Make it Tasteful. This is a request from someone who has been a bridesmaid several times. The cards that say "Maybe next time it will be you, but probably not" or "You don't look good in white anyway" get old real
quick. I would stay clear from a gag bridesmaid gift unless you know for sure that your bridesmaids will really appreciate it. The bridesmaid gift is part of your wedding and you want it to be tasteful and appropriate to the occasion. A possible idea is getting your bridesmaids your favorite book. This is something that is tasteful, personal but doesn't require a lot of time ormoney. Also, you can give them a "relaxation kit" with your favorite scented candles and bath salts. Keep things elegant; your wedding is not a time for cheesy gifts.
While wedding plans can be very busy and even a little hectic, this does not mean you need to stress out about the bridesmaid gift. Remember to keep things simple and work on getting something that will be useful to the bridesmaids. Your bridesmaids will appreciate your effort.
